For those who have graduated from high school and will continue with their higher education, many if not all of these students will have to pay out of pocket for college. Most of students think that if they graduate from college or a four-year university they will have a chance to work in the professional field rather than work for minimum wage. It is an opportunity for anyone, particularly those who have low wages, to earn a degree and make more money. In the article “Expanding Community College Access” from The New York Times, President Obama states that tuition for community college should be free, because the American workforce is not educated enough for the global and national workplace. The presiding evidence and statements from experts
However, it is still an issue for students to cough up that money. The idea of making community college free to any student in America has been a dream for low income students for a while. President Obama’s desire to make the tuition of community college to everyone in the nation would only make it difficult for students to get a free education, limit them to essential resources, and discourage students from applying to four year universities. Granting free community college tuition to incoming freshmen will draw “more students to already crowded community colleges”. Along with the overcrowded campuses, a very long waiting list will soon form making it just as competitive to get into a four year university.
Without the years of hard work, going to college would not be a significant matter. If college was free, gaining a college degree would be almost equivalent to a high school degree as almost anyone would be able to obtain
For these reasons, college should be free, for it would help so many individuals, communities, and the economy. Lastly, the level of debt that has begun to take claim to the lives of the American people is a huge problem. Among these reasons, the debt each student accumulates is the most important issue to fix for them. The first major issue with the current state of college tuition is that it is just too expensive for a large portion of the american population.
“The cost of college education today is so high that many young people are giving up their dream of going to college, while many others are graduating deeply in debt” Bernie Sanders says. However, instead of going for free, you can earn benefits to pay less for college. College is just too expensive save to be free for everyone. The working-class people pay for college, leaving the one who goes for free, out of debt.
By attending college, higher job opportunities will be available for much more people. With a higher educational background, the average income of an American will grow, which permits people to be able to afford the higher prices of taxes. Overall, America should allow free four-year colleges and universities available to all citizens. The overall positive impact that free college can have on our country- such as lower debt and lesser unemployed and homeless- will allow for the United States economy to be more stable and allow for its citizens to greatly benefit
The idea of public post-secondary education has been around for an extremely long time. Furthermore, it is still considered to be one of the most astonishing and remarkably well-accomplished propositions. In fact, recent studies, in the fall of 2015, found that there were well over twenty million postsecondary students enrolled in American college education. Additionally, this demonstrates how popular postsecondary education is becoming; especially when you take into account that in a decade and a half more than five million students enrolled. With this increase of postsecondary education wanted and the expensive reality of college, we often come face to face with the question, “Should College Be Free?”.
If we made college free for everyone we would be funding the rich. Families that have the money to pay for some or all of the cost of a college education might choose instead to take advantage of free college at a public institution. Amelia Josephson said, “In effect, the government and taxpayers would be subsidizing the rich. Critics of free college who point to this drawback often argue that a more targeted reform subsidizing college for the poor and the middle class would make more sense. They also point to the example of Brazil, a country with free college where wealthy students reap a lot of the benefits of tuition-free education at public universities.”
Every American should have the chance to be apart of higher education without the cost holding them back from more knowledge. Ever high school student is always faced with the decision on if they want to go into higher education, and most of the time cost can be a major bump in the road. Everyone is always competing on who's going to get the next scholarship or how they are going to pay, but in reality most students have to cut the bill themselves and graduate with a ton of debt. There has been much debate on having free community college and just some of the areas are Obamas college plan, how other countries have had success with this idea, and how it would overall benefit our country. Obama has came up with a new proposal called the American’s College Promise to help increase the number of citizens that have a college degree.
President Barack Obama has proposed the idea of free community college which would eliminate the necessity for students to directly pay for their education, thus there would be an influx of students in search for a degree. The idea has caused split opinions within the United States population because of the effects of such plan. At a glance, this idea sounds as if it were God sent for American youth and others struggling to receive a higher education, yet the ramifications of this proposition outweigh the benefits. The United States government should not implement free community college because of the negative impact it would cause to the U.S. National debt, the change in learning environments of such schools, and a larger overpopulation
college tuition should be paid for because, if the United States had more and more students going to college instead of going straight to jobs the economy would improve greatly. A vast majority of those who graduate from college would be getting higher paying jobs than if they hadn 't gone at all, which in the long run gives them more money to spend and therefore increases tax revenues. The increased tax revenues would enable the government to provide services to the constituents. Having more money go into the economy will help money go towards funding college however they would choose to deal with splitting the costs. This would also help small businesses because if they have more revenue coming in that can be used to grow their small business bigger.
In today society, people are easily looked by their college degree level and they can be judged by their degree. But not everybody can afford to go to college in order to get a degree. People have different reasons of not going to college but most of the reasons are because of the tuition. Tuition are too high and they can not afford it. If the free college situation does not make a great effect on the economy, I believe that college should be free because free college can encourage more students to go to college, earn a degree and can decide on their future without the worry of paying debt and contributing to create a better society with their knowledges.
Some college students are working part-time jobs and are full-time students. Perhaps, working through college will not always cover all of a student's education expenses including books, supplies, room and board. If free tuition is given, students will have further time to educate themselves. Moreover, college tuition and prices are at an all-time high. Each year, prices are rising higher and higher.
College should be free For students going to college is a life changing factor. College education is a necessity for all society. When students go to college, they will develop their knowledge very well and they will know what’s good and bad for their life. They will also achieve their dreams.
Getting ready for college is hard for some people because they don’t have enough money for college. Also, all their hard work for entering college has gone to a waste since they don’t have enough money. College education should be free because it could give students the life that they want, it could also help students concentrate on their studies, and lastly some people can’t afford the money.
