In today’s society guns play a major role in many ways. People are divided in figuring out if guns have a negative impact or positive impact. There are many restrictions on guns and some people feel there second amendment rights are being taken away. A question to ponder is, if Americans aren’t in favor of guns why do they collectively own over 300 million. Gun control laws affect citizens Second Amendment rights, right to self defense, and they have proven injustice. Guns can have many positive uses it is up to people to decide how they are used. There are many reasons why Gun control laws are questionable. The United States Constitution was created to establish American national government and give basic rights to citizens. The second Amendment of the U.S constitution states “The Right the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed." Are forefathers believed we should be able to protect ourselves? The United States Supreme court has also established many rulings pertaining to guns. In 2008 and 2010 the court made many decisions in favor of guns. Cases like (District of Columbia et al. v. Research shows that gun laws are aimed at inner city, poor, black communities. These types of communities have always been looked down upon. People tend to fear these types of areas. People have the idea that if a white man was to walk down the street carrying a gun he would be America’s protector and savior. If a black man where to do this he would be seen as a bad person or enemy. In 1831 a law was passed to “prohibit free black people "to keep or carry any firelock of any kind, any military weapon, or any powder or lead and all laws allowing free black people to possess firearms were repealed.” Since the 1800s black people carrying guns has been looked down upon.
