Immigration has been an extremely difficult situation to understand and to fix in America. Many presidents have thought that a simple wall will hinder the problem of unregistered immigrants entering the United States. Other presidents believe that by passing laws, they can disturb the flow of illegals into the United States. Under the new command of the new president, Donald J. Trump, it is clear to see the major emphasis that has been places on securing the United States borders. His administration has recently released a new immigration reform that can be divided up into four pillars. This program is, “designed to ensure plenty of diversity in US immigration, so only individuals from countries underrepresented in US immigration are usually allowed to apply.” I believe that by doing this we will cut down on cost and will open up spots for individuals that are trying to go through the process of obtaining residency, not for people that just get lucky. Furthermore, Trump wants to become a merit-based immigration system. Under this system immigrants will be ranked and also questioned about their past and their skill set that they can bring to help aid America. This system makes sense because it questions the character of every individual that wants to become an American. For example, if someone was arrested in their country for drug trafficking and gang violence, why would the American public want to place this type of person into an American community. On the other hand, if someone was a hard worker that never got arrested for a major crime, they should have the opportunity to chase the American dream. Therefore, under the new merit system, we will be able to see the past and will be able to determine if the individual would be a person that helps benefit the American
