Stephanie Buda is the founder of the program ‘Kids 216’ and the program has started in 2016. She and the kids that she works with help people rebuild/clean things like houses,buildings, and gardens.
When she was younger, there were years and times when her and siblings were going through hard time. Her Mom made sure they were super busy and they always had activities and sports like football and soccer.When she was younger she always wanted to be a teacher however, she was always in trouble in school.

Progress she has made, was when she was about to graduate with her 2nd master’s degree in about a month. For Kids 216 they have transferred 10 kids to full time work with benefits. Last summer they fixed up 3 homes. That is a good progress for being around for a year.

The experience was hard, the kids know that she is different from them, she went to college and don’t live here anymore. The kids know that she is here for them and know that she want them to get good jobs. It is hard to make sure the job gets done at the end of the day. Reading is really important for the job. She does lots of research.

She have to figure out what the needs are for the kids. What affects them everyday. What influences their lifestyle choices. She usually have to research how to write grants to get money to run the school. They did a lot of fundraising. The program is a 10 week summer school for young adults, 17 to 24 year old kids who are not interested or able to go to college. Teaching construction by working on home in the community, homes from elderly and disabled folks, and school fix up projects, and then help them get full time jobs based on the work we taught
