Legalization of Marijuana The legalization of marijuana is a topic that sparks many arguments. Most people support its legalization, and with reasonable arguments too. So do those who don’t support it. It is important to take into consideration the facts that support both legalization and illegalization. The decades following rampant marijuana use have thus presented burning discussions on the question of marijuana legality.
In the old years, Marijuana had a lot of economic importance, as it was a commercial cash crop. These days many people view the marijuana as a health hazard rather than of social, political, economic importance and its cultural relevance, but people of the old days had different views and used for it. They argue that marijuana is less addictive than alcohol or tobacco. When to compare with the two, there are far less harmful effects experienced as they claim that marijuana is more natural than the two combined.
Medical experts have on numerous accounts stated that marijuana use, especially in adults, is almost not risky even though it is a gateway drug. The proponents also claim that it gives them a euphoric feeling, helping them against depression and that it motivates them to do their work more effectively.
As strong as the arguments for the proposal of marijuana legalization are, the opponents too, give compelling arguments as to why they oppose legalization, ranging from health to social issues. Marijuana intake methods are different. Some prefer to take it in the form of cookies or cakes induced with marijuana, or, as many prefer, by smoking it in the form of marijuana cigarettes (Johnson, 2013).
Those who oppose marijuana legalization will argue that those who smoke marijuana cigarettes (most marijuana users) are subject to health risks since marijuana in smoke form includes carcinogens and other harmful substances like carbon monoxide and many other toxins present in smoke(Johnson,
