In the past students did not know the guidelines of what they could say at school,but the students at Des Moines brought attention to the rights of every student at school(Blacher 10). Smith begins by telling the story of a 4th grade class at Jefferson Elementary School in Berkeley, California who try to fight back against immigration laws after a classmate of theirs was deported back to his home country. Smith then goes on to compare the 4th graders to the adults of their town who fight for stronger immigration laws asking his readers what qualities the children possess that the rest of the citizens do not to make them react so differently.

Mexican Americans have immigrated and emigrated to Americas since before the Mexican American war of 1848. Despite the multiple attempts at creating a well-rounded immigration reform the United States has failed to achieve the full capacity of the reform. The United States first failure at the reform was in 1986 when congress passed the “Immigration Reform and Control Act”. The purpose of this legislation was to amend, revise, and re-assess the status of unauthorized immigrants set forth in the Immigration and Nationality Act. The content of this bill is overwhelming and is divided into many sections such as control of unauthorized immigration, legalization and reform of legal immigration.
The process which you emigrate from the US to Mexico is significantly harder than coming from Mexico to the US. There are nonimmigrant permits for those who choose to stay in Mexico for a temporary amount of time, and an immigrant permit which is for those who assume permanent residence in the Country. Residency permits take up to four years to get. There is a long drawn out process of which you have to hire an immigration lawyer. There are many requirements to be able to take permanent residency in Mexico.
It takes an abundant amount of time, money, and paperwork to legally immigrate to the United States. The first step of the immigration process is obtaining a visa, a step that was difficult for my parents. There are multiple types of visas, depending on the purpose why one wants to move to the United States, such an employment, family, refugee, immigration, and marriage visa. My father first applied here as an immigrant, and when he arrived in the United States, my mother applied for a marriage visa to join my father to start their new lives together. They both went to the United Nations office in Baghdad, Iraq, a complicated six-hour drive from Slemani, Kurdistan to proceed with the preliminary steps.
In some people’s minds, they automatically assume yes, but in reality, it’s a no, immigrants tend to perform labor, and do minimal jobs that Americans don’t, and won't do, so they mistake that as immigrants taking ‘Americans job’, but it’s actually a missed opportunity. One reason for people not taking the jobs is because of the hours, the next reason is the pay might not satisfy a legal immigrant, and people born in America, another reason is it wouldn’t be able to support a regular American family, but they will be able to support an illegal immigrant. The downside is that the policymakers disagreement is the weak labor since the spread immigrants flow has made a dramatic change seeing that the H-B has issued down by twenty- five percent in 2010. Many of the people do immigrate around the world due to many reasons such as; wars, genocides, money, work being exile and many other reasons. In the recent years or decades many of the people have been immigrated to western countries such as United States, France, Germany, Canada and many others. During last decades we have been dealt with War in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria and many other states from Central and in the South American states. Most of these immigrants come into the United States in look for a better life, escaping the poverty from their country of origin. Many people are against illegal workers coming into the country, others are greatly benefited by their work. Many opportunistic employers have targeted these “day laborers”, called by Abel Valenzuela Jr., the author of the article “Immigrant Day Laborers”, to take advantage of their work. Immigrant workers are an important part of the U.S. economy and should be benefited by the work they do.
