Minimum wage for workers in the United States has been a very widely discussed topic. The Fair Labor Standards Act in 1938 established an hourly minimum wage of 25 cents. ( )It has risen a lot since then. In my opinion, I believe the minimum wage rate can only have positive effects on the population. The states have different minimum wage laws. Some prices are higher and some lower. Before 2007 the minimum wage rate was only $5.15 for nearly ten years. As of 2009, president Obama had raised the minimum wage to $9.( ) People agree with this because it can lift them out of poverty.
