Palestinian Women Fighting in Jihad
Abstract:
Women in Palestine and other Arab countries are not self determined and strong as other women throughout the world. The Media has a great impact on how such conservative traditions and culture could change after one incident, or develop so much for the women gender’s rights and support. The third intifada was created so Palestinian women can have a stand in which they have to show resistance to the Israeli occupation.

If yes where will this violence lead them? Will it change their perspective of “women and jihad’ are women less suspicious than men? Is there role fixed or can it be changed? What factors will help changing the ideology of women or female joining fighting groups. Who supported their ideology? How did social media implicate the idea?
The gender of women in Middle Eastern countries like Palestine has always been heavily influenced by religion, culture and tradition. In Arabic countries women are a nuclear unit for the family structure, nonetheless their rights are overseen by the patriarchal tradition. In general, families expect to have males because they can give continuity to the family line and they are regarded as the providers, on the other hand, Palestinian women are not expected to be superior than men, and they are not ought to do anything else but their customary roles. More importantly, women are taught from a very early age that they should accept and endure the believed inferiority, in addition, they are taught in early childhood that they are responsible of the household duties (Augustin, 1993). In recent times, the political and economic situation in Palestine combined with the conflict between Israel and Palestine has brought violence and social discomfort, for this reason, some women have chosen to leave their gender roles behind to join the fight.
