PEDs Have no Place in Baseball The atmosphere in the baseball stadium was crazy when the batter hit the ball. “Crack!” and one of the fans asks “Is it a home run?” Then the ball goes over the fence “It is an home run!” The crowd goes wild! However, there might be something fishy going on. This baseball player has hit 70 home runs in the season. How? How can they hit that many home runs? You know they must have used PEDs or Performance Enhancing Drugs. I think that PEDs are not supposed to be in baseball and I have some proof. My main evidence is that PEDs are unsafe, they create inequalities, and it is unfair. The First reason is that is unsafe. You might say that “Sports are dangerous, so why don’t we just allow PEDs.” Well because PEDs can actually change the biological body functions and this can lead to death or other health disorders. This is way more dangerous than sports. The USADA (U.S Anti-Doping Agency) is very worried about the possible effects of PEDs. In the text it states that “PEDs have the ability or potential to drastically alter the human body and biological function… These drugs, however, can be extremely dangerous and, in certain situations, deadly. The negative effects these drugs can have on one’s body make USADA’s mission paramount as to why no athlete should ever …show more content…
It is unfair because there are people who have worked really hard without using drugs. However, other people use drugs that gives them a performance advantage which is particularly unfair to the clean athletes. In the text it states that “Most people are opposed to the use of drugs in sports because they say that it creates an “unfair” advantage. All the other athletes worked hard to get to where they are today and they think that the people who use drugs cheated their way there.” (Should Athletes Be Allowed to Use Performance Enhancing Drugs?, Fall 2016, Andrew's Blog). This supports my claim because it shows how PEDs are
