Pennies are worth it; a penny is still money. It is not like it means nothing, or not worth anything. Money is always worth something. Some older pennies are worth way more than just a penny, it just depends on how old it is. Pennies are important. They go with history, they help charities, and they can help society.
Pennies are a part of our history. For example, “The one-cent piece, commonly referred to as the “penny,” has been a part of United States history for over two hundred years. Its design has changed twenty-one times. History also shows that as the economy has changed, so has the value of the coin.” (Story, p.1). The penny is an important part of history. The older the coin, the more it costs. The history of the coin began 200 years ago and should not stop. Some people may argue that pennies cannot be used for anything. However, this argument is wrong because pennies can be used to help society. Pennies can help people pay in exact change. People all around the world use pennies to buy groceries and pay bills. So, pennies should not just be thrown away. For example, “Not everyone agrees that the penny should be eliminated. Many argue that price-rounding cannot be done fairly, and that finding a way to make pennies cheaper is a better approach. Steel, which was used to make pennies during World War II, would be a cheaper alternative. No matter what your stance, the penny debate is real, and the United States must decide one way or another. “(Mancuso, p.5). Pennies should not be banned as they help the society. People need pennies to give others exact change, as most get angry when they don’t get their extra couple of cents back. Nobody should put a ban on pennies as charities use pennies to help the sick or the homeless. People should not ban or “throw away”
