My technology is hydroelectric energy and how it could one day power cars. While there are rumors of hydroelectric cars being created, no cars have been mass produced yet. One of the first cars invented was actually powered by a steam engine and they later developed the engine we now have that runs on gasoline. The first engine powered on hydrogen and oxygen was created in 1806 in Switzerland by Francois Isaac de Rivaz. He invented this engine and later put it into a very basic and early automobile in 1807. According to Christopher Lampton, some countries already have created these cars. These cars include, Chevrolet Equinox, the BMW 745h and the one that's currently available for lease in California, the Honda FCX. This technology would help solve the issue of climate …show more content…
However, it would create a new market, for water powered cars. Morally, while reducing the impacts of pollution and slowing climate change is a good thing, the loss of jobs for hardworking people is wrong. The new market would create new jobs for people, but is that right? Politically, by using hydroelectric engines we could solve many problems that we have been questioning for a while. For example, our country is very interested in Middle Eastern affairs because we rely on their oil. We wouldn’t need their oil if we had hydroelectric energy and our country would be more isolated. Furthermore , the political system is very concerned about the issue of climate change and how to combat it. With this new technology, while it would create the need for new laws to be past and regulations to be made, it would be a good solution to a long-discussed problem. There are a few consequences and risks too. This invention would use a lot of water and is very expensive. A cheap technology that could be mass produced has yet to be created. This doesn’t help countries that are poor because they mostly likely couldn’t afford
