There is no doubt about it. Science fiction has not only captured America’s attention for the sake of entertainment, but it has also shown America the many possibilities that the future may hold. The depictions of intergalactic space travel, time travel, and alien species have left audiences in awe about the future and just how much more humanity, as a whole, can achieve. However, societal progress can not be made if creativity is not part of the growing process. Throughout the Star Wars series, the repetition of the clashes between the Jedis and the Siths (in simple terms are the “bad Jedi”) has shown the audience the two basic ideas of morals, good and bad, or as symbolized in the movies as light and dark. In addition, the series has also taught its audience the significance of friendship and courage (Byassee). This is exemplified most profoundly by Han Solo and Chewbacca, who are lifelong companions and partners in crime. The most notable scene of their friendship was when Solo was encased in a carbonite trap and brought in for a bounty. Chewbacca, along with other various rebels worked tirelessly until Solo’s location was discovered. However, even after they found Solo’s location, Chewbacca did not rest. He also took a part in the raid to retrieve and free Solo from his prison. Another example of friendship that is displayed in the trilogy is R2-D2 and C3-PO, two androids who endlessly make each other’s acquaintance throughout the movies. For example, in every fight scene where C3-PO gets dismembered in the crosshairs of the fighting, R2-D2 is always their to save the day and prevent the destruction of his android buddy, despite the risk that R2-D2
