This may sound crazy at this time and age, but sexism still exists. Although it does not publicly appear very often, it affects our daily lives and is a critical issue that must be addressed. “Sexism is the foundation on which all tyranny is built. Every social form of hierarchy and abuse is modeled on male-over-female domination.” - Andrea Dworkin. From this, anyone can see the severity of this problem. || Sexism can become very physical. A lot of women are raped and assaulted because women are stereotypically weak and defenceless. Recently, aboriginal women have been kidnapped and sexually assaulted. Then, there are people who slip “date rape drugs” or flunitrazepam (Rohypnol), into women’s drinks. The drug makes its victims sleepy. Then, the women are essentially kidnapped and as the name of the drug suggests, sexually assaulted before being released. These tragic stories turn up all over the country and the government has not done anything to fix it. They have only recently acknowledged this problem. That is to get everyone to just offer help to anyone who might need it. For example, if one sees a person slipping something into someone’s drink, tell that someone. Do not just do nothing and watch it all play out, because anyone has the ability to change another person’s life.
