Texting and Driving Texting and driving is dangerous and should have severe consequences. According to edgarsnyder.com if someone texts while driving it is 6x more likely that people will cause an accident than driving drunk (“2022 Texting and Driving Accident Statistics - Distracted Driving”). Texting while driving affects the person who is doing it and the people around them. According to edgarsnyder.com if someone is texting and driving it will cause a 400 percent increase in the time people spend with eyes off of the road (“2022 Texting and Driving Accident Statistics - Distracted Driving”). Texting and driving is dangerous and needs to have severe consequences because it could kill people and cause permanent damage. First of all, texting and driving could kill anyone. According to explodingtopics.com 3,170 people on average are killed in accidents involving distracted drivers each year (Howarth). Texting and driving has many risks. Texting and driving couldn't just kill someone, it can also injure people very badly (“Distracted Driving | Transportation Safety | Injury Center | CDC”).
