My favorite sentence from this reading had to be, "The arms were in sad shape, because everybody was always sitting on them, but they were pretty comfortable chairs." (Salinger 18). In the short sentence, I furthermore get a glimpse of Holden's voice and personality, this time by seeing him contradict himself. He describes how sad looking and beat up the chair is, yet goes on to say how nice and comfortable it is. This to me is a very important clue to Holden's overall personality in regard to life.

It is intended to inform viewers about the criminalization of African Americans and the United States prison boom. 13th uses rhetorical devices in its claim to persuade the viewers by using exemplum in the opening seconds of the film. President Barack Obama presents statistics, saying “the United States is home to 5% of the world’s population but is home to 25% of the world’s prisoners.” Also the film uses a hyperbole in talking about the movie Birth of a Nation produced in 1915 which portrays a black man as a violent savage who will kill white women.
The movie, The American President, depicts several reliable roles that the president performs, as well as, some of the aspects of our political system. It is a romantic comedy that takes place in the White House, during primary season. The president, Andrew Shepperd, is a widower, with a daughter, who is hoping to be reelected and pass two bills. One related to gun control and the other on fuel restrictions. While watching the movie, I noticed several key roles that the president played; all of which gave him the qualities of a realistic president.

The film “Raging Bull” made in 1980 by Martin Scorsese was based on a self destructive, highly emotional boxer named Jake La Motta as he battles through life. As his fierce attitude and violent temper takes him to the top of ring it ruins his family and life outside of boxing. Throughout the film we discussed the importance of the cinematography through out the film and why it played such an important role in developing “Raging bull”. Also the theme of anger and violence is displayed throughout the film. Jake never changes, from start to finish he is an emotional wreck, isolated and quick tempered.

Judgment at Nuremberg is a movie which was directed by Stanley Kramer and was written by Abby Mann based on a true story of a tribunal that happened in Nuremberg, Germany in 1948 until 1949. The film with 179 minutes duration shows us the tribunal to trial four NAZI judges who were very famous in the NAZI era. They were Dr. Ernst Janning, (Burt Lancaster), Emil Hahn (Werner Klemperer), Warner Lampe (Torben Meyer) and Friedrich Hofstetter (Martin Brand). The judges who were presiding in the tribunal were Judge Dan Haywood (Spencer Tracy) with two other judges who were American judge and arrived in Nuremberg in 1948.
‘A Time to Kill’ is a movie that depicts the racial tensions between the white and black Americans in the past. The movie revolves around the life of Jake Brigance, a lawyer, and Carl Lee Hailey, as he struggles with the law and racism after seeking justice for his raped 10-year old daughter. As Carl Lee approaches Brigance for help with his case, they both face the challenge of blurring the lines between the white and black Americans and helping Carl Lee escape the long arms of the law. In the movie, racism, negligence of one side of the story, and objectivity are applied.

Two less Lonely People in the World... We Filipinos really love romantic comedies even those with cliché plots. Kita-Kita suddenly became one of the hottest topics on social media in the Philippines and that’s what sparked our interest in watching and critiquing this film. What sets it apart from the usual romantic-comedies we have watched is its attempt to put a twist on a typical “boy-meets-girl” happy ending story. Kita-Kita exhibit predictable scenes, however it still successfully grasps the attention of the viewers with its heart-warming love story about finding the right person at exactly the right time.
