Do you know what it’s like to not feel comfortable going to the bathroom in a public area? It’s embarrassing, insulting, and descrimitive. Transgender citizens go through this issue everyday. They have to cope with the insults and limitations. Conservative legislators have filed bathroom bills in 13 states so far (glsen.org). I speak for the transgender community by promoting unisex bathrooms and banning bathroom bills.
Bathroom bills, or laws used to define the access to public facilities often regarding transgender people, were designed to insure that citizens only use public facilities according to sex and not gender identity. These facilities can include bathrooms, locker rooms, or any other gender defined facility. The bills claim to defend “woman’s or student’s safety” however, are instead neglecting the safety of the transgender community. …show more content…

Her struggles include having to use the bathroom in the nurse's office in elementary school and how embarrassing it was for her. She just wanted to be treated as a normal girl, but because people were so entitled to having two separate bathrooms according to sex, she had to deal with the outcome. That kind of behavior hurt her self esteem and caused her severe depression. Fortunately, people like Jazz don't take this discrimination lightly. According to GLSEN research (glsen.org), 70% of trans-teens feel unsafe at school and 60% have been restricted from using the bathroom or locker room that aligns with their gender identity.
