Vaccination Nation is about the controversy of vaccinations causing autism. The United States federal court denied any link between autism and vaccines, more specifically the MMR vaccine. Vaccines causing autism has been the talk on news, celebrities and magazines. Despite scientist denying that there is no connection this topic has gained several legal claims against vaccines. This has led parents into panic about autism.
Disney Land is known as the happiest place on earth, but not so happy for any of the 59 people who contracted measles on their trip there in December 2014 (Alifers). Measles had been declared eradicated in the year 2000 by the CDC (Frequently Asked) Because of the growing anti-vaccination movement spreading throughout America, health conscious parents are more often choosing to not vaccinate their children allowing for once eradicated diseases to be able to take a foothold in America once again. This anti-vaccination hysteria has been fueled by discredited medical researcher Andrew Wakefield. Dr. Andrew Wakefield published a paper in The Lancet in February 1998.

Being sure our children get all of their vaccines make the most sense to me.” “80% of children have received all recommended vaccinations.” “But, almost 1 in 5 have not.” She believes every child should get vaccinated so that they do not put other children's lives in danger.
Children are the future. That is why it is important for them to receive the best healthcare as possible. However, there are some questions as to what is included in the best healthcare, including whether or not it is safe for children to be vaccinated. Questions arose when an article was published with alarming results that indicated vaccines could be the cause of autism in children. The disputed article lead to many anti-vaccine movements.
Last July, BBC News reported that California had passed a law that would make vaccines mandatory for all California students regardless of personal or religious exemptions (BBC News). A California grassroots group by the name of A Voice for Choice, led by Christina Hildebrand has responded to this issue by making a statement that “Countries like Sweden and Germany and a few other European countries that have much more reduced vaccine schedules are not seeing serious outbreaks of things” (Seipel). There are currently 28 diseases that are avoidable through immunizations according to the article “Discussing Vaccination With Concerned Patients”. Widespread diseases have decreased to a minimum because of vaccinations.
Many people may think that vaccination is a bad thing, that instead of preventing it causes illness, that is not natural. Natural or not, there are many reasons as to why we should vaccinate us and the younger generation. Most of the time children don’t like vaccination because it hurt, but is the responsibility of a parent to seek the wellbeing of his or her child. Vaccination it’s a preventive measure of various diseases. Unfortunately, things like the anti-vaccination movement, the misinformation on the Internet, and the believe that vaccination causes more damage than is worth, have led our society to think that it’s right not to vaccinate.
I do believe that Vaccinations should be required because of my personal experiences with vaccinations. While I was a young child many of the vaccinations really helped me strengthen my immune system. I believe that it depends on the type of vaccination if it should be required or not. There is fear and controversy in this because the faith the people put into the government and the medical field. I will go into more details on why or why not we should be required to have vaccinations.
Vaccinations When it comes to vaccinations, there are many different opinions on immunizing a child, especially when that child’s parent has a strong like or dislike towards vaccinating. Immunizations have existed for at least a thousand years and as technology advances more, there are new vaccines being designed to help protect our children from contracting contagious and sometimes deadly diseases, such as Bordetella pertussis, polio, and even influenza. For decades, all 50 states have required that parents vaccinate their children against various diseases, including polio and measles, as a prerequisite to enrolling them in public schools (Ciolli, 2008). Enrollment in public school requires up to date vaccinations in order to protect the children and even the adults from contracting and spreading a disease, possibly causing an epidemic.

Today, it is highly unlikely for a person to contract these diseases, let alone die from them. However, refusal of vaccinations has been increasing throughout the years due to the anti-vaccination movement. This movement declares mandatory vaccines unconstitutional and vaccinations overall as the cause of autism.
There is likely a small chance for a child to get a disease if they’ve already had the vaccine for it. If not, the child has a higher risk of catching a disease that may be spreading around school, neighborhoods and even other public places. By getting a vaccination, it helps you to be immune to the disease if it ends up spreading like a wildfire anywhere and can even help you live a better life. You are taking a risk if you have your child to get vaccinated but it is a lot safer than putting your child in more danger by not taking him/her to get their vaccination
