For many years, students have been pouring money into the bank accounts owned by colleges. Tuition, fees, books, dorm rooms, school lunches, and classes; these numbers all add up. Ranging from $9,000 all the way up to $31,000 per year for an average state college. People who've graduated from college are putting money back into their student loans rather than the economy. In the United States of America, legislation needs to be passed, resulting in post secondary and continuing education courses free to citizens.

Most of students think that if they graduate from college or a four-year university they will have a chance to work in the professional field rather than work for minimum wage. It is an opportunity for anyone, particularly those who have low wages, to earn a degree and make more money. Whether college should be free or not is a debate that has been going on for decades. In this article, however, we will figure out if college really should be free. College should be free, as there would be less student debt, more people would have access to a higher education, and it could lead society to new levels of innovation. First off, let’s discuss student debt. Student debt has been a rising problem, especially for those attending college in the United States.
However, it is still an issue for students to cough up that money. The idea of making community college free to any student in America has been a dream for low income students for a while. President Obama’s desire to make the tuition of community college to everyone in the nation would only make it difficult for students to get a free education, limit them to essential resources, and discourage students from applying to four year universities. Granting free community college tuition to incoming freshmen will draw “more students to already crowded community colleges”. Along with the overcrowded campuses, a very long waiting list will soon form making it just as competitive to get into a four year university.
More than 40 million Americans have student loan debt which is about 1 in 5 U.S. adults. For as long as education has been pursued, college has been a thing. Along with college comes tuition and other college expenses which are not cheap. Since the early 90s, students and parents have been suffering from student loan debt. In fact, according to the United States Department of Education, the average student loan debt has more than doubled from 1990 to 2010 and is continuing to rise (ProCon.org).
Schooling is getting more and more expensive and the raising costs are not helping anyone wishing to better themselves and attend a college. “The average cost of attending a four-year public school is more than $34,000 right now, and tuitions have been rising dramatically in recent decades.” (Mitchell 4). A parent working a minimum wage job must spend over what they make in a year to attend a university or college to be considered for a higher paying position. Paying for college can put students in a difficult situation. I have come to the conclusion that college will be hard to pay for, but with proper education I can keep the cost to a minimum. As senior students start to round the end of their senior year they realize that they have a lot of responsibilities. Not only are they adventuring out into the “big world” but they have to start paying things they once never thought of.
As the school year comes to a close and the only thing on a senior’s mind is how are they going to pay for college? Throughout our high school careers we always get asked what our plans are after high school and never how are you going to pay for that next step of your life after high school. We barely get prepared for the real world in high school we are forced to take classes the school thinks will be good for us not what we think or what will be best for what we want to study for in college. How are high schoolers supposed to be able to pay for college when they don’t get prepared enough in high school to go on to that next level of schooling and have to more than likely go into debt just to be able to pay for it. Colleges should no longer cost an insane amount of money to go there.

Some college students are working part-time jobs and are full-time students. Perhaps, working through college will not always cover all of a student's education expenses including books, supplies, room and board. If free tuition is given, students will have further time to educate themselves. Moreover, college tuition and prices are at an all-time high. Each year, prices are rising higher and higher.
Moreover, I strongly agree that college tuition should be free for students because education is very important for student all over the world. When one government allows students to attend at the college for free, the benefit is good for both of them because when they are educated in their community that will get a lot of business minded students, such as doctors and teachers. However, when students cannot go to college because of the high tuition, they will engage in crimes, drugs, and many young teenage girls will get pregnant because they are not smart enough to handle their lives. In contrast, when a student goes to college they will know what diseases are and they will know how to protect themselves from diseases and unwanted pregnancy.
In today’s America, free college, the idea to subsidize and provide higher education to students at no cost, has been gaining popularity as a way to create a more successful society and combat high college tuition. On average, college tuition costs in the vicinity of $35,000 a year. The argument for free college is to reduce the financial gap by providing free education to all citizens who choose to pursue a college degree. Supporters argue that higher education should be more attainable and equitable, thus creating a better society, but opponents raise the question of feasibility.
