Many people choose to go to college for a career they want or the education, even though they may not like the work, they gain experiences and some things others that may not have gone to college gotten. One of the main reasons people don’t attend college is because of the cost. This is an important topic now because it is more important now than ever since more careers require a college degree. In the past decade tuition, has risen so much more than other goods or services. Many people are asking will colleges lower their tuition because student debt has risen to 1.2 trillion dollars.
There has been a major debate in many schools over the years: open campus. Students have had so many thought, opinions, and arguments over open campus, yet many schools remain closed to the idea. Administrators don’t seem to see the positives of having open campus. As with every other conflict on the world, there are pros and cons. On the subject of open campus I believe the pros outweigh the cons.
Should Community College be Free Since today's workplace demands better skills and profession than a century ago where most of the society lived and worked on farming jobs. However, today's jobs require special skills, know how and higher education degree. In fact, the information economy of today demands more sophisticated skills than decades ago and requires more specific qualification type of knowledge. Therefore, more and more jobs in the future will require a student to have a college degree or higher.
The number of immigrants unlawfully in the U.S. has been steady at 11 million. Most of these immigrants aren’t allowed to attend university because of the issue that they aren’t legal U.S citizens. Everyone should have an opportunity on college access and better education. They should not be discriminated by others if all they want is a better life for their children , the parents come here so their children can have a better education. All immigrants are humans just like any other person in this world, they should not be treated less or have less opportunities just because they are illegal .
Most people want to further their education after high school and get the most knowledge they can receive, however college tuition in America is super expensive and is drastically rising. Nearly 40 million Americans have student loans and the total amount of student loan debt in the United States adds up to $1.2 trillion (Berman). The fact of the matter is that since a college education is out of the financial reach for many bright students and their families many young people have been turned down from reaching their full potential because of tuition costs. This is one of many reasons why a college education should be free for all students who complete high school. I will be talking about how more students gaining a college education can help society and the country, why a college degree is more important in todays age than ever, and why the large amount of student debt that is owed is
Argumentative Essay College has always been a part of my life, but the most memorable moment was attending a college campus for the first time on February 2, 2017. My sister, mother, and I attended a meeting for the enrollment of a high school, which began at 6 pm. This high school was located in a college campus. It was a pretty big campus with kids all around of all ages.
As the school year comes to a close and the only thing on a senior’s mind is how are they going to pay for college? Throughout our high school careers we always get asked what our plans are after high school and never how are you going to pay for that next step of your life after high school. We barely get prepared for the real world in high school we are forced to take classes the school thinks will be good for us not what we think or what will be best for what we want to study for in college. How are high schoolers supposed to be able to pay for college when they don’t get prepared enough in high school to go on to that next level of schooling and have to more than likely go into debt just to be able to pay for it. Colleges should no longer cost an insane amount of money to go there.
A classroom filled with desks like a pack of sardines are sealed tight, is not an ideal learning environment. Even though public schools obtain more tax dollars for more students, sometimes more students are not the best case. Teacher to student ratios should be about twenty students per teacher at the elementary level, focusing on kindergarten through fifth grade (Semi). Depending on location, some schools are overcrowded and consist of up to thirty students in one classroom. From science class, to the other end of the spectrum, music, these different types of classes are both overcrowded in almost a fourth of US public schools.
In today society, people are easily looked by their college degree level and they can be judged by their degree. But not everybody can afford to go to college in order to get a degree. People have different reasons of not going to college but most of the reasons are because of the tuition. Tuition are too high and they can not afford it. If the free college situation does not make a great effect on the economy, I believe that college should be free because free college can encourage more students to go to college, earn a degree and can decide on their future without the worry of paying debt and contributing to create a better society with their knowledges.
Long ago, there have been massive arguments about whether or not community college should be free. Nowadays, a college education has become fundamental in today's society. Each year, education is becoming challenging in today's marketplace. Thus, many people, including students question whether community college tuition should be free given. I firmly believe free community college should be provided and financed by the U.S. government.
Thinking about how to pay for college is a great concern to many college students. With increasing college tuition, this is often the first thing students consider while looking at potential institutions they may attend. The “sticker price” students see on college websites is the first glimpse of what a higher degree may cost. It is not uncommon for students to believe this is the actual cost of attendance. For those unversed in higher education, the idea of grants and scholarships is an unfamiliar concept.
On the hinges of the GI Bill, approximately 7.8 million World War II veterans, enrolled in some sort of educational or training program. Total college and university enrollment changed dramatically from 1,676,856 in 1945, with 88,000 veterans attending, to 2,078,095 in 1946 with veterans accounting for 1,013 ,000, or 48.7 percent of the total. In 1947, veteran enrollment reached its peak at 2,338,226 with 1,150,000 veterans, or 49.2 percent. Colleges not only saw increased enrollment on their campuses but these enrollees -veterans- came fully funded by the federal government. This was certainly a boost for the colleges both in human and financial numbers.
88.31% of people at an age of 25 and over have a high school diploma as their highest form of education, meanwhile on 31.96% actually have a Bachelor's degree. This number is low, considering college degrees can open up numerous opportunities for jobs in the world. Many important figures have said that this number must increase for the future of our nation. There are plenty of jobs out there, but many of those well-paying jobs require a college degree. With the coorelation between college and getting a job, maybe this is the reason 42% of America's population being unemployed.

Numerous individuals enter college without the complete knowledge of how much money will have to be paid backed after graduating college. Since it is not guaranteed for a person to graduate in the correctly estimated year, the amount of money that will be owed after graduating will be a higher amount. In Owen’s and Sawhill’s report “Should Everyone Go to College?” they argue about how the student tuition debt has risen to one trillion dollars, yet students can not afford to pay the money back(212). Some individuals rush into college without seeing some significant details that should be considered when in college.
