Cameras all around, tumbling, jumping, and high flying stunts. The scene described is not only a football game against the two biggest rivalry’s, but the sport that we all call Cheerleading. Is it a sport though? Or is it just a hobby that “preppy” girls are involved in? Many people have different views on what cheerleading means to them. Some call it just a hobby, but others actually call it a sport. As of me, I am a cheerleader and have been since I was a little girl. I know exactly what it takes to be a cheerleader, and everything that is involved within the sport. The many elements that are involved contain the stunts, the practices, competitions, ballgames, and tumbling. Cheerleading involves the exact contents that are involved in any other sport, but the word of cheerleading isn’t considered a “sport” in many people’s eyes. Cheerleading requires a high level of physical fitness. It also contains risk of many different injuries that can occur while being a Cheerleader. Many High School teams get to be able to compete, with their choice. As of All- Start teams, that what they do all the time. They don’t cheer for football or basketball players, they practice every single day to be able to show- off a perfect routine. They get to compete against every All-Star team in the world, but only one team of each division has the privilege to be able to be called the number one team in the world. As of the rules that are step up, each can be different for each competition, but they are both usually all about the same. One second over the time limit given for each team to preform, can result in points taken off. Also, there is a mat that you perform on, and if a tumbler goes out of the line that is outlining the mat, then you can also get points taken off that way
