Martin Luther King was not happy with segregation, so he spoke up and gave African Americans a voice. Martin Luther King Jr. is the most effective citizen of the 20th century because he is brave determined and a leader. Martin Luther King Jr, was born on January, 15, 1929 and grew up in Atlanta, Georgia. He was the leader of the Civil Rights Movement from the mid 1950s to the time he was assassinated, which was on April 4, 1968, in Memphis Tennessee. Martin Luther King 's grandfather and father were ministers, so Martin decided to carry that on by becoming a minister himself. Leading him to be able to give the speeches he gave and be heard. M.L.K believed that you should do what is right. So that 's what he did. Martin Luther King Jr. Is brave, determined , and a leader. As you may know, Martin Luther King was involved greatly in the Civil Rights Movement. He was the person to speak his mind and explain that what was happening was not right. African Americans marched to Washington DC, which was where he gave his "I Have a Dream" speech on August 28, 1963. This was called the Million Man March. He was a very brave man to do this because he knew that there would be consequences. Sadly those consequences caught up to him. The society was angry and the people protested violently.
