Abortion in Texas
Abortion is the ending of a pregnancy. Sometimes women without the knowledge decide to perform an abortion due to certain problems in their relationships or in their lives. Numerous women proceed to abortion without thinking about the actual consequences of it. Twenty one point six million women experience an unsafe abortion worldwide each year. Therefore, our government had stated laws to prevent unsafe abortions. Because of unsafe abortions, women were left infertile, with chronic illness and pain, and many of them even died. Any of us could be in this difficult position, that’s why women in Texas have been fighting about their abortion rights throughout the years. Today’s decision is alarming... In 2011, 533,500 women in Texas became pregnant. 71% of these pregnancies resulted in live births and 14% in induced abortions. In other words 73,200 abortions took place in Texas during 2011. In the past years; women in Texas have been fighting about their abortion rights, due to the fact that there are not enough clinics providing safe abortions and information about pregnancies difficulties in our state. The actual abortion regulations are unconstitutional.
Concerned women through our state were trying to get our government attention by protesting. They say that if a woman chooses to proceed with the abortion, she should have the best care and best environment possible. In fact, our government had changed the abortion regulations in Texas making thirteen of the thirty six clinics in our state to shut down and be unable to provide women with safe and legal abortion care and leaving only eight places with women’s access to medical care.
