Arguments Against Legalizing Marijuana

Marijuana is the most controversial and discussed topics in the U.S.A today. Many people argue that it has vast befits in the medical area and that it shouldn’t be illegal. While many other people say that it has a very high potential for being abused and should still remain illegal. Among the arguments, proponents and patients for medical marijuana have presented a stronger argument for it being legalized through their use of research and evidence.

Opponents of the medical marijuana use have given many reasons for why it should still remain illegal, one of the many reasons that they argue is that research shows that the Marijuana smoke contains a lot of known carcinogens and produces a dependency in users who smoke it heavily. Though the opposite side still argues this legalization, the opposite show no evidence on supporting this claim, which in other words, their claim is invalid. Today there are many pharmaceutical drugs that are used for treatment and they are even more addictive, yet they are still legal and sell off the shelf. Also the carcinogens can have a negative effect on medical marijuana patients, but there are way more many things in society, such as tobacco, that contains harmful and nasty toxins, yet it’s still legal and sell in every store around the world. To say that marijuana shouldn’t be legal because it is addictive, is irrelevant because these pharmaceuticals and things that are sold are still present in society today and are harmful to the human body and the health of others like second hand smoke, but still they remain …show more content…

Many other patients have complained that pharmaceutical drugs that physicians and doctors provide them with, do not help them through this disease and the pain they go through. Research and studies have shown that medical marijuana use has proven for some patients to have much more better results than prescription drugs sold in pharmacies, but the law and opponents still have held back millions of the patients who are suffering and in pain. Some very ill patients need medical marijuana, like the mal-nourished plants need the sun water to survive and grow. The DEA are taking these rights away from the ill patients and the patients continue to live in this horrible state of feeling sick and suffering. The DEA constantly are breaking into people’s houses and establishments and putting them in jail for the use of medical marijuana. All of these innocent people are being charged heavy fines or even jail time just because they wanted to relieve and cure their awful pain and
