Another type of stereotyping that mentioned by Hartmann is the beliefs of excellent performance in sports are “inversely associated with intellectual and/or moral excellence” (Hartmann 237). People beliefs often build up by what they saw and heard. Thus, by looking at African American excellence in sports fields, this gives them the stereotype that this excellence produced are due to the lack of other area in which mentioned by Hartmann, the intellectual and/or moral excellence. This is what that gives them the impressions that black athletes are actually brute and savages with no moral and stupid to top it all. The minority athlete then becomes the symbol of the American dream for people in the United States and in the athlete’s home country. For most Asian athletes, this narrative of success entrenches themselves as a racial model minority (Joo, 2012). Being labeled a model minority suggests that Asian athletes are obsessive conformers, highly intelligent, rigorously self-disciplined people, and excessively hard-workers. The model minority stereotype appears to be very positive because it categorizes those Asians/Asian Americans as law-abiding and self-sufficient citizens, who completely embrace core American values. Yet, this perceived positive sometimes provides negative resentment amongst other minority groups and the majority of culture due to the overall abundance of success which Asians have had in school and careers (Nixon, 2015).
The presence of sports has been felt in the majority of the world’s everyday lives. No matter where you are or where you reside, sports will always somehow make its way into your life. Along with sports, the injustice of the way people are treated will somehow always be seen in your life. Whether that is through the news, blogs, and or social media, the inducement treatment of people will be prevalent in your life as well. In 1968, the combination of sports and social injustice made its way onto the podium in the 1968 Olympics.
“The mistreatment of black athletes throughout America’s History” Throughout the early years of America’s Sports History, there was always a constant that you would see throughout the 3 major professional sports which at the time were football, basketball, and baseball, they were always segregated. Black people were never seen in these major leagues they were placed in their own separate league's things like the Negro Leagues for baseball and The Harlem Globetrotters for basketball. These types of leagues were made to keep African Americans out of the all-white professional leagues.
In this day and age, many believe racism to be an issue of the past, when as a matter of fact, it is still frequently impacting peoples lives all around the globe. Unfortunately, many issues regarding racism occur in the sporting world. In Australia, it occurs most often in Australian Rules Football, or in the major competition, AFL (Australian Football League). It is a widely accepted idea that the players and spectators of a sport, rather than the sport itself have a direct impact of inducing racism within that particular sport. Relating to the AFL, the main offenders of racism are the spectators, who are commonly abusing players of different race to them.
Racism is as American as baseball. A banner was hung over Fenway Park’s Green Monster on September 12th with these powerful words on it. This statement is very true. Baseball has played as big of a role in shaping this country as Racism has. The relationship between race and racism is due to the fact that there are racial categories created, in order for particular social groups to be on top of the hierarchy. For example, the white group, which is on top of this racial hierarchy, established the notion of race in order to benefit themselves, which has led to racism among other minority groups. The ideology of a group being superior than others leads to racism. Ultimately, race is the product of racism, and racism is not the product of race (25).
Introduction The issue which is going to be investigated in this essay is racism in English football. The research question "To which extent there still exists racism English football in the 21st century and how it can be tackled?" will be answered. Lots of people worldwide believe that racism in football is a huge problem. There are many examples of both players being racist to each other, and fans being racist towards the players. There have been various cases where a football player has had to walk off the pitch midgame because they couldn’t tolerate racial comments coming from the fans. Whilst I’m sure some people disagree with this, I personally do see it as a growing problem, and that it’s something that should be addressed. Many women athletes drop out of sport rather than continue being subjected to the constant harassment and abuse.

This paper looked at sports through the lens of an individual athlete named Muhammad Ali (who definitively changed history for African-American people in the United States), as well as looked at sports as a whole throughout history.
