As students, we all go through a number of lectures, learnings and tests to evaluate our knowledge, skills and abilities. At first, our knowledge and learnings are less but after we go through the whole schooling and college process, our sea of knowledge increases with our schooling and education. However, the question is raised when we begin to doubt that how some students are able to score better than others, does that mean that there are varying levels of intelligence among these students? Or is the testing system unfair? Or is the schooling system unfair? To answer all these questions, I have conducted research keeping in mind the most important question of all, which is, “Is standardized testing an effective way of measuring a student’s achievement?”. This is true because many of these tests that students take to get admissions in colleges, the knowledge that is tested in these exams is not used in colleges. So for example, GRE tests consist of English and Math questions, which are the basics that we study in school and once students get admission in college, they do not necessarily use this kind of English or Math specifically in college study. So, even if someone scores well on these tests, it does not mean that they will automatically do well in college too.
