Troubled Steroid Users With the game of baseball expanding as quickly as it is, players still find the need to use steroids to improve their game. Many people look back and judge some of the players that use steroids to up there performance. People have to remember that steroids did not become illegal in Major League Baseball until 2004. There are only two ways to possibly fix the problem, and that would be to either suspend the players for a season or two or ban them from the league forever. The players that used the steroids after 2004 are usually the older players that are trying to stay in the league as long as possible. Fans believe that the Performance Enhancing Drug (PED) brings excitement to the game of baseball. Some of the brightest moments n sports in terms of ratings probably wouldn’t have happened without the help of PEDs, whether it was Mark McGwire, Sammy Sosa or Barry Bonds. People want to see longer homeruns hit and homeruns hit more frequently, but to match that on the defensive side they want to see faster pitches. It bring excitement to the game of baseball. Fans are not looking at the long term effects that the PED has on the players thought. Do not put the player’s life after the game of baseball at risk just because fans want to see them blast homeruns or throw pitches over 100 mph for 7 or 8 years of your excitement. The drugs is harmful to the players and it is not worth the risk. Like twitter you could say steroids are trending in baseball. The smaller players in the league are compelled to use the steroid in order to keep up with power and performance. With steroids not only are the athletes in danger after their baseball career, but they are in danger while the game is being played. With ball getting hit out of the park more often means that the ball is getting hit hard when it stays in the park as well. For example say a player is not on steroids early in his career. With him not being on steroids he is hitting routine ground ball and line drives the ball is coming off the bat at 98 to 100 mph and that’s normal in the major league. Now a player gets on steroids and the baseball he hits is leaving the bat at 98 to 106 mph, which puts all infields in danger. Pitchers have a better chance of getting hit with a ball off the bat because they have less time to react. If players in professional baseball think they need steroids to be great they are wrong and their thought needs to be changed. You are a professional athlete for a reason, they are the best in the world and already at the highest level what more do they
