The first premise of the counter argument is evident in the ability of factory farms to produce the mass quantities of food that small family farms are not able to. Large-scale companies such as chain fast food restaurants and grocery stores purchase commodities at a much lower cost. “Because factory farms are so large, they achieve “economies of scale,” producing much more food at cheaper prices than smaller farms.” (The Real Truth, n.d) Some would argue that the world’s population would not be able to eat without factory farms. Everyone does not have the means, financial ability, or desire to grow their own food and turn it into a consumable product. Factory farms provide all of these things. The second premise refers to the process
