Chaya, You bring up a great resemblance with the empire of Rome. Although America strove for freedom and equality, it was not extended to everyone. Freedom and equality were only for white Americans. In the course book on page 547, in Chief Joseph’s speech he states that the little one were freezing to death. It is heartbreaking to know that even the little ones were suffering.

Ukraine was very independent, and Stalin wanted to remove the threat that the Ukrainians were becoming. In Cambodia, Pol Pot attempted to create a utopian Communist agrarian society. When Stalin came into power after Lenin’s death in 1924, the government was struggling to control and unwieldy empire.
Genocide is the act of mass murdering groups of people because of someone 's disliking. In other words getting rid of people or stop their existence,mostly because of their religion, ethnic, or race. One of the most atrocious ones was the Armenian Genocide(April 24,1915-1916), in which 1.5 million of the Armenian population, living in the Ottoman Empire were either deported or killed. During this time,the Turkish government had planned the genocide to get rid of the entire Armenian population in the Ottoman Empire(which was one of the largest empires to rule on the border of the Mediterranean Sea) because they feared that the Armenian community would join their enemy troops during WWI in 1915.
“It is generally not known in the world that, in the years preceding 1916, there was a concerted effort to eliminate all the Armenian people, probably one of the greatest tragedies that ever befell any group. And there weren’t any Nuremberg trials”(Carter, 1987). Jimmy Carter, the thirty-ninth president of the United States, said this quote at the White House reception honoring Armenian Americans in May of 1978. It shows how little is known about the Armenian Genocide and that the survivors never received closure like the Holocaust survivors did with the Nuremberg Trials. During the Armenian Genocide, which lasted from 1915 until 1916, 1.2 million Armenians were brutally murdered.
The Armenian Genocide By:Diona Mehmeti Due to the decline in the Ottoman Empire’s power and influence they sided with Germany and Austria in WWI as a final hope to regain what they had lost. The Ottoman Empire was mostly Muslim but had a small Christian population, the Armenians. A very nationalistic group in the Ottoman Empire known as the Young Turks began to want the empire to be “modernized and be cleansed”. They believed that in order to make the Ottoman Empire pure, that they must get rid of the Armenians.

These articles share with the world the confronting nature of the young Turks and the proof that the Armenian genocide did occur. E- As well as these news coverage’s are the confronting photos (Source D) taken by a German medic stationed in the Ottoman Empire, disobeying orders to stifle the news of the genocide, he collected information of the genocide and secretly delivered it through to the United States and Germany.
How many people really die in a genocide? The answer, millions. The Holocaust, Rwandan Genocide, and Armenian Genocide are among the many genocides which have killed a countless number of people. The Holocaust, one of the biggest genocides in the world killed around 5,900,000 to 11,000,000. The Rwandan Genocide killed from 500,000 to 1,000,000 people, while the Armenian Genocide killed 800,000 to 180,000.
100 years ago, the attempted annihilation of an entire race known as the Armenian genocide began. From 1914 - 1922, the massacres perpetrated by the government of Young Turks and later the Kemalist government aimed to eliminate all Armenians living in the Ottoman Empire (Armenian Genocide Museum - Institute). A population which had lived in the same region for centuries suddenly became nearly extinct. As for the cause, the outbreak of World War I provided the Young Turks an opportunity to solve the “Armenian question.” The Armenian question refers to the defence and liberty as well as fair treatment of Armenians during the disintegration of the Ottoman Empire (United Human Rights Council).

Critique of Operation Nemesis: The Operation That Avenged the Armenian Genocide In Eric Bogosian’s Operation Nemesis: The Operation that Avenged the Armenian Genocide, he describes the reasons and events that led up to Armenian Genocide, which triggered the creation of Operation Nemesis. Bogosian’s book starts with his own background, revealing that he is third generation Armenian. He states that Armenian Genocide is an event, with Turkey refusing the event taking place, and Armenians strongly opposing. This tension led to the formation of Operation Nemesis, an assassination plot that murdered Turkish leaders that led the genocide.
The nutrition elective took place over the spring term, lead be Osteopath and Nutritional Therapist Mary O’Leary, she was very interested in looking at how nutrition influences recovery from injury and pain and how important it is to general well being. There were various topics covered during the sessions ranging from vitamins and minerals and how they work and what are the best food sources, to talking about certain conditions and how nutrition can play a big part in managing them and also talking about different types of diets and the pros and cons of them. An infamous example of one of the worst genocides was the killing of Bosnian-Muslims in Yugoslavia. After provinces like Slovenia and Croatia decided to secede from Serbia because of religious reasons, Serbia decided it was time to take action. After examining the political power, death rates, and the sole reason for the Yugoslavia murders, it is clear that the Serbian genocide is one of the worst in history. There were an estimated 200,000 people who were killed between 1992-1995 in a genocide commited by the Serbs against the Muslims, and Croats in Bosnia. On top of this, another 2 million Bosnians were displaced from their homes and placed in dangerous environments. Three main groups fought each other within the country, Bosnian Muslims, Serbs, and also the Croats. This was a horrible and important genocide that killed thousands of people between 1992-1995. Like the Nazi’s cleansing Europe of it’s Jews, the Serbs aim was the ethnic cleansing of any Muslims or Croatian presence in Serbian territory.
