I work for Product Manager Soldier Maneuver Sensor (PdM SMS) and our organization is made up of military and a Civilian workforce. Although the organization is divers in its makeup we still have an established mission statement, vision, and values. Mission Statement PdM SMS Mission Statement “Equip the Soldier with sensors and laser devices to dominate the battlefield through improved lethality, mobility and survivability in all weather and visibility conditions.” Our mission statement seems simple and to outsiders not really clear of what we do. Based on our mission statement you think that we are just suppliers of the equipment that soldiers receive. In many cases that is true, but we are responsible for acquiring, testing, developing and creating all the different devices soldiers use to find, detect, and eliminate the enemy. The Army uses the acronym LDRSHIP to express how soldiers should conduct themselves day to day. LDRSHIP stand for Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless service, Honor, Integrity, and Personal courage. Our values are the core of what we do day in, day out. How these values are actually live out and practice is all is all determine how well the leadership of an organization conducts themselves and enforces these values. Strategic Goals The strategic goal of PdM SMS is in line with our mission statement. The organization has to focus on the big picture which is the goal of the Army, fight and win on the battlefield. That goal to be the best fighting force in the world can only be realized if upper management has a plan. How we fit into that plan is by continuing to develop and provide new resource that allow our workforce to acquire the newest and latest technology at the best possible cost (Allen, K., & Economy, P.
