The Painting I really like is Birth of Venus. I find it really beautiful and graceful. It shows goddess of love, born out of seashell. In addition to this, how beautifully is the showing that at the sea shore an attendant is ready to cover her nude body. She is looking so beautiful and attractive in the painting but little shy too which makes the painting really perfect.
The medium used for the paining is tempera. I think use of this tempera enhances the work because it is very long lasting and the colors don’t deteriorate over time. So even now if you look at the painting it looks fresh. Also use of tempera makes the surface really smooth.
It is a large scale painting around 1.72 m x 2.78 m. Due to large scale it is very easy to visualize all the things which painter was trying to show. Moreover if it will be a small one then the things which he adds in the painting could never done it so beautifully.
This painting uses lot of green, blue and light brown colors. The colors are used in such a way that some of things are blend with each other which makes it outstanding. Even the way he painted the trees and sky and also the colors he choose is so amazing. The work is more like a three dimensional. The right side image is Zephyrus, god of winds. In the picture he carries with him the gentle breeze aura and together they are blowing the wind at the Venus to make her reach at the sea shore. On the left side image he shows an attendant waiting for her to reach at sea shore to cover her nude body. In the middle Botticelli shows Venus who is standing on to the sea shell. Figure of Venus have more authority than other two figures. Botticelli painted her so beautifully and gracefully that it is hard to take off eye from her.
