“Tiger in Blossom”
For this formal analysis, I will be discussing how I completed my final art piece, what details were used, techniques, inspiration, weaknesses, and strengths of the art piece. The materials I used to construct my art piece were digital materials, using the app Procreate on my Ipad Pro, on March 9th, 2023. You may be wondering why I decided to go with flowers and tiger as my main objects used to construct my design. I have always been fascinated by tigers and it's one thing that I am best at drawing, along with my passion of drawing flowers. My other inspiration behind the piece was from artist Jet Martinez's work, as he tends to work with flowers of many colors …show more content…

I would say economy can be found easily in the piece, as it's a very simplistic idea of sketching the tiger out and using the background of flowers to form the tiger and giving it just enough color to give a sharp appearance. The design is simple enough that if I were to add more, it would make it unbalanced and unorganized. The balance and proportional aspect of the piece are there, the balance as in creating a proportional subject and having enough objects in the background that fill the space, creating both good balance of the design overall and the proportions match the design, not making it look dwarfed or uneven. Movement and variety is found in the background moreso, than the tiger itself. I wanted to have a variety of hues of the two colors that I chose, and when blending those colors to create each flower petal, I wanted to develop that sense of movement when a viewer is looking at the design. I wanted to make it look as if the flowers were moving lightly outside or under a light because of the many hues and variety of color I used, creating shadows and highlights to develop that background movement of the design. That being said, the colors used in the design with the background and tiger, create a harmonious design, as the color fit tiger and the way that it was constructed with color balance, makes the image sharp. It's very simple to identify the as the dominance of the image is obviously the …show more content…

As for my strengths of this project, I believe that I channeled Jet Martinez's works of art well within creating my own design. Balance, space, values, color, intensity, line, and shape can be easily defined and found within my piece of work. Value was done outstandingly, even if only 2 colors were used, I found 16 hues within those two main colors creating a sharp and intense design for viewers. As for my weaknesses, I would have drawn the flowers slightly smaller, as it would give the design a more accurate proportion to how large the subject was drawn to be. I would have also used a light gray within the outline of the tiger to give it more focus and accuracy to the design and make it identifiable to the naked eye, even from afar. I would have also created my line work within the tiger to create a better texture, along with using the color white to create more variety within my piece as a
