Kate Foley Ms. Zisel Global 9H April 2nd, 2017 The Middle Ages was a time of destruction and redemption for the people of the Roman Empire between A.D. 500-1400. The best description of this time period can be represented by four terms, the Golden Age, the Dark Age, the Age of Faith and the Age of Feudalism. Each time caused for a significant change in society that had a tremendous impact. From the troubling times of invasions and destructions to a time of prosperity and progression, the best terms that describe the Middle Ages are the Dark Ages and the Golden Ages.

Many labels were used to characterize the Middle Ages, however the best were The Dark Ages, The Age of Feudalism, and The Age of Faith. The Dark Ages accurately identifies the Middle Ages because of all the death, destruction, and plague throughout. The Middle Ages followed the decline of the Roman Empire, which causes very harsh times across Europe. Also this time period consists of the plague which virtually slaughters one-third of Europe.
After the fall of the Roman Empire in 476 CE, it led into the Middle Ages. Commonly referred as the Dark Age, Europe was in a time of reformation. Many have used the “Dark Age” as a synonym for the Middle Ages, due to the lack of education and unethical actions that occurred during 500 CE to 1500 CE. The Middle Ages weren’t so dark as it seemed, it was a duration of reconstruction, acquired learning, agricultural boom, technology improvements and architecture.
The Middle ages was the period of time after the Roman Empire fell, and when the Europeans rebuilt themselves. The Middle ages, or Medieval Period, spanned from about years 500 to 1500. During this time, a new society began to appear. This new society had roots in the classical heritage of Rome, the beliefs of the Roman Catholic Church, and the customs of Germanic tribes. Many things were involved in the rebuilding of this society, such as religion, culture and most importantly, geographical location, government, and economics.
MIDDLE AGES Gothic style During this time, the style of art that influence Europe was Gothic. Gothic style was first emerge in the middle of XII century in the Northern France, then it spread wildly through all nation in Europe. First it was just an architecture style which developed by the influence of fortresses in the Byzantine Empire but then it had been acknowledge by neighbor countries.
The Labels of the Middle Ages From 500 AD to 1400, the Middle Ages in Europe have had three different ages. These ages are; the Age of Faith, the Dark Ages, and the Age of Feudalism. Europe used to be controlled by the roman Empire, but when the empire fell, the middle ages began which were full of change. They best describe the era because of invasion from barbarians, strong belief in religion, and a new economic and social system called feudalism.
The Middle Ages, also known as the Dark Ages, lasted from 500-1500 C.E. Around that time, the Western Roman Empire fell, causing everything to go out of order in Western Europe. People during that time were basically Romans, and those living in the Eastern Roman Empire - the Byzantine Empire - were also Romans. Hence, the culture in the Medieval Ages was similar to the culture in the Byzantine Empire. Cultures, throughout the world, build on one another - just like how the Roman Empire influenced the Medieval Culture. The Medieval culture influenced American culture today.
In the History Channel's documentary "The Dark Ages", the Early Middle Ages is portrayed in many ways that aren't consistent with actual history. The History Channel portrays the Early Middle Ages as The Dark Ages. The Early Middle Ages was not the actual Dark Ages because, the real Dark Ages was in Greece in 1100-759 B.C.E. when Greece collapsed. However, History Channel's, "The Dark Ages" was supposed to be around 500-1000 C.E. History Channel makes The Early Middle Ages appear as a gloomy, dark, "hellish" time. I'm class we discuss how The Early Middle Ages was a time of art, development, and education.
Muhammad’s belief and early development of Islam were influence by Judaism and Christianity that he learned on his travels as a merchant and use some of their idea for a monotheism God. The fundamental tenets of Islam were: Allah is the one and only true god, the recognition of other gods leads to bad punishments and Allah will bring his judgment on the world, and he rewarding the good and punishing the bad. After Muhammad died, the Islamic community faced a struggle because Muhammad left no one to be his heir to lead the people.
Martin Luther was a monk and a professor at the university of wittenberg. This is where he lectured about the bible. Martin Luther's 95 thesis was an act against the selling of indulgences. He thought that the selling of indulgences was a harm to the church and he acted against it. He did not think of it as rebelling, but he sent letters to the high bishop and the rest of the church counsel.
The early Middle Age Time period started around the fall of the Roman Empire and came to an end around the early 11th century. There was a very wide range of different art media from a wide range of different cultures during this approximate 1,000 years of art history. The major societal, artistic and cultural change in Europe during this time period came from the traditions of new and long time settlers in Northern Europe, the Graeco-Roman heritage, and the newish Christian faith. This movement and migration happened mostly during the fourth and fifth century. During The following centuries these different groups started to merge to set a good foundation for what is todays European
The middle Age happened from 476 AD to 1000 AD. Known to be ‘dark’ period of time, the plague killed thousands of people and more were suffering. Although, I believe it was not all that dark. During that time a lot of great things happened, from the establishment of universities/schools to the agriculture uprisings. The Carolingian Renaissance advanced their literature and algebra arrived.
