Everywhere we look there is some type of art, we are surrounded by art the moment we were born into this world that God created with his own two hands as stated in Genesis 1:1 “ In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth”. You may be asking“ What is art?” art is the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination. We see art as just painting or sculptures, but it's much more, for example how photographers want to capture the beauty of nature into a simple picture to retain for souvenirs and share with others. According to the latest paleo-archeological information, the oldest art was created by humans during the prehistoric Stone Age, between 300,000 and 700,000 years ago. Images of the Virgin Mary and saints are much rarer in Protestant art than that of Roman Catholicism And Eastern Orthodoxy.
The Renaissance was the main focus with the past artist like Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Raphael. I know they might sound like the ninja turtles, but they are some of the most famous artist during the renaissance due to the masterpieces they left for example leonardo da vinci and of the most famous drawing to this day, the Mona Lisa. The Mona Lisa is described as “ the best known ” because it is the most visited and the most written about. One artist in specific that really made an impact to the public is Gian Lorenzo Bernini a italian sculpture and architect. Bernini’s prefered style of art is baroque art. Baroque art is a highly ornate and often extravagant style of architecture, art and music that flourished in Europe from the early 17th until the late 18th century, It followed the Renaissance style . Bernini sculpted many meaningful figures, one of his most renowned sculpture is a marble statue of David right before defeating Goliath. The reason for choose this as an example out of all the others is because it is about a story of a man from the bible that we’ve probably heard of.
