Art review paper
The Hills of San Francisco It was a beautiful Thursday. I went to the Mobile Museum of Art for my art class. I was so excited for the first time. This museum was nicely outside decorated and furnished with many different types of art. I decided to start out by looking at some of the various paintings. There were many different kinds, including traditional oil paintings on canvas as well as ordinary paper. One that stood out in my mind was a painting of many houses and buildings on the hills that made me miss my country. “The Hills of San Francisco” was a great art work of Ethel Magafan. That made in 1944 by Egg tempera on Masonite and about 20 inches length and 16 inches width. That size was a perfect size that helped me feel comfortable when I looked at it. Because the sky was dark and shadow around the valley. The main point in this art was the small village inside a quiet valley that not too far from a big and crowd city. I saw nobody, no animals but houses.
It might be too far to see people or they stayed inside their houses because the weather or it was time for family dinner. The still in this art really made me miss my country, because my country had the same atmosphere like this in the evening. No crowded, no noisy, just quiet and had fresh country air. Ethel Magafan might fell in love with this beautiful rural scene when she came to visit here. She was trying to tell people how beautiful the San Francisco. The scene direct the viewer about a quiet village, fresh air with good natured persons. At this time, the artist might be sad in heart, it shown clearly in her art work with a sadness atmosphere. When she saw this part of this state, it touched her felling then she produced a great painting that we can see
