Phone calls, letters and evidence in plain sight and yet, no one was ever caught or charged with the Zodiac murders. Everyone began to think that this horrifying serial killer’s identity would remain a secret, but there is evidence that no one seems to notice. This is the evidence that concludes that Arthur Leigh Allen is the Zodiac Killer.
In order to fully understand the mystery behind the notorious Zodiac killer, background knowledge needs to be provided. The Zodiac Killer was a serial killer in the late 1960s-1970s who was never caught even though he taunted the authorities and the media and gave plenty of evidence. For instance, Allen was extremely intelligent, much like the Zodiac Killer who made elaborate ciphers and codes and always seemed to outsmart the authorities. The killer would always leave just enough evidence so people would know who the “Zodiac” was, but not the man behind it all, much like Allen, who always managed to slip through the police’s fingers. According to common knowledge and police reports, both the Zodiac and Allen were dangerous threats to society. It’s obvious why the Zodiac killer was dangerous but what some may not know is that Allen was a felon because he was a child molester. Allen was not well liked by people because of this, he was specifically hated by his acquaintance Don Cheney, for the main reason that Arthur tried to molest his young daughter (Newton, 2004). To further connect his character traits to the Zodiac killer, Arthur was an avid hunter. This meant that he collected a variety of guns and knives. In fact, some of the knives and guns he had were similar if not exact to those the Zodiac killer used. The only survivors of any of the Zodiac attacks were men, and people think that it is because the Zodiac killer hated women, and, by the words of Robert Graysmith is his book “Zodiac Unmasked”(2002), so did Allen. One way to prove this statement wrong is the fact that the most provided and credible evidence points to Allen, such as eyewitness accounts, accusations and the collective evidence over the years. To further support that Allen is the killer, a survivor of one of the zodiac attacks, Michael Mageau, picked out Allen's headshot from a police lineup, which is credible because he is the only known survivor to have seen the killer’s face. Next, there have been many people that have claimed that “My father was the Zodiac killer!” or someone else they know was, but those accusations have all been dismissed because no evidence backed their claim up. All except for Allen’s case, which still remains as the most likely suspect for the killer. Finally, physical appearance and physical evidence matched Allen, according to Robert Graysmith from his book “Zodiac Unmasked.” and general knowledge collected by the authorities.
