The Articles of Confederation gave a lot of power to the states, which didn’t allow for a standardised system for money and trade. There were many taxes that the farmers of New England couldn’t pay. The legislatures threatened the people with taking away their farms, which lead to Shays’ Rebellion. Because of the failure of the Articles of Confederation during the months of May to September in 1787 The Constitutional Convention met. The Convention invited important figures such as Washington, James Madison, and Benjamin Franklin. In 1788 the people of the United States made the right decision to ratify the Constitution.
