With Asda being a sell-side e-commerce site, the manager will have to make sure certain things are taken into consideration to ensure that the customer or visitor to the site is satisfied and they must always aim to avoid all possibility of facing any prosecution. Security is an essential part of any transaction that takes place over the internet. Customers will lose their faith in the business if its security is compromised. Transactions using credit card payments, pay pal etc. When developing a website, Asda manager must ensure that all online business transactions will be secure, particularly those involving money. Trade Descriptions Act This Act prevents manufacturers, retailers such as Asda from misleading consumers as to what they are spending their money on. This effects Asda as they are a massive retailer selling own brand and out sourced brands so they have to be careful to ensure they adhere to the requirements of the law. Trademark and Copyright concerns A trademark is a word, image or slogan such as ‘Save money, Live better’, designed to identify the goods or services of the outlet. Trademark infringement occurs when one party utilizes the mark of another in such a way as to create a probability of confusion, mistake or deception with the customers. The confusion created can be that the products or services are the same as that of the trademark owner. Since most web sites will contain discussions of products or services, the web site developers for Asda should be aware of the potential trademark issues. It means when the buyer wants to make a purchase, they need to follow a range of step to purchase the products such as register as a member of the website, fill up the agreement form, key in all their personal details, key in the credit card number and so forth. There have many steps to follow if they want to purchase a product over the internet. Although this is essential for best security and privacy the buyer may feel that the process of buying the products over the internet are too complex compare with buy a product from the store and paying over the counter with the additional disclosure of personal details.
