Inspiring Role Models for All Ages
Role models are important in teenagers lives for they are mentors for the journey into adulthood. Teenagers either have role models who are not communicated with; for example, celebrities, or role models that are communicated with; for instance, parents. For most teenagers, it is usually a role model that is a celebrity. Ashley Graham is a role model to teenage girls for she is a body activist, she has a positive attitude, and is a plus-sized model.
Being a body activist like Ashley Graham is not just focusing on one body type, she focuses on all body types. Ashley Graham has been known to make photo shoots with girls who are insecure and will talk about how it is beautiful to have flaws. For most people, it is not easy getting in front of a camera and pointing out insecurities and be positive, yet Graham does that for a living. Young girls have been programmed to want to look a certain way that is praised by their peers. Ashley Graham shows young women to be positive and learn to love the insecurities that may be present. Also, whenever Ashley Graham is live on television, she always have a smile on her face and is generous to her fans. Women need to be positive about loving their body and themselves.
Plus-size models have been becoming more known by the public. Ashley Graham was the first plus-sized model to be sponsored by, Sports Illustrated. Modeling agencies had told her to lose weight, tone up, and then come talk to them. Graham inspired women when she did not change herself for others and was successful in becoming a model.
