Mom or dad? Ashleigh either doesn’t help her dad out or steals her mom’s money. Ashleigh’s parents are divorced. Ashleigh’s mom is a level-headed women and her dad is a dreamer. Ashleigh’s dad owes money to help pay off a deal he made and asked Ashleigh to help him out by stealing the money from her mom. Ashleigh stole the money because Ashleigh’s dad made her feel special, Ashleigh’s didn’t want to let her dad down, and Ashleigh and her mom aren’t that close.

Letting her father down is hard seeing that he makes her feel special. “ But he looked so happy I had to smile, too.” (Pfeffer 3) Who wants to let down someone who is on their way to a “easy street” and is happy about having a chance to get money? Another way that Ashleigh didn’t want to let her father down was: “But I’ve got to tell you honey, once that money is paid, I’m on my way to easy street.” (Pfeffer 3) Ashleigh’s dad claims that it’s just a setback from his easy street and once he gets the money from Ashleigh, all will be easy.
