It might be a difficult task for Asmina to grasp that Filmon’s actions are a crime in accordance to the Family Violence Protection Act (2008), especially as she appears to have little knowledge of the Australian legal system. Thus, it was an identifiable strength that she was able to question and draw on her mother’s experiences to question if her and her children should be ‘living like this’.
