Normally the employer is very understanding if you are going into collage. Working as a host gives good experience for other jobs as well.A host has several opportunities along with the experience. A restaurant hostess is a good job because of the benefits, employment rate, and training. A hostess has good benefits. “The median hourly wage for food and beverage serving and related workers was $9.44 in May 2016”1. This shows a hostess pay on average. Pay is normally the first thing someone will check. “Advancement opportunities are limited to those who remain on the job for a long time”(Bureau of Labor Statistics,Paragraph 1,Pay ). Another benefit is the advancement process. When working as a host the employer can advance to serving as the employee reaches 18. This shows that training takes time. It also shows that hosting is more difficult than people believe. “ The training communicates the operating philosophy of the restaurant, helps new employees establish a personal rapport with other staff, teaches employees formal serving techniques, and instills a desire in the staff to work as a team”Bureau of Labor Statistics, Occupational Outlook Handbook, paragraph 3).
