One of the areas the student with higher-incidence disabilities have difficulty in is reading. In chapter five, it talks about that students with mild disabilities and if they have difficulties in reading, chances are they will have problems in all the areas. For reading, the general education teacher and special education teacher will work together to meet the goals for children with special needs. The IEP team works together to set goals and accommodate for the children with mild disabilities. Some of the assistive technology that teachers can use in the classroom for students with mild disabilities are, it talks about if a child has problems reading something in a book, because of visual problems, they would highlight certain parts of the text in different colors, to help the child see and read the words better.
