Introduction: Every Saturday morning unfailingly East State Street turns into a bustling market district catering farm fresh produce and sweet loaves of bread among several other things. Athens Farmers Market is an organization of local farmers and artisans who promote sustainable consumerism. The Market located on East State Street congregate on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. year round. It meets on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon, April to December and Thursday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., May to September. The congregation typically consist of a variety of booths stationed outdoors or indoors. Here, farmers sell fruits, vegetables, meats, and other produce. The recent surge in the popularity of Farmers Markets in the United States of America stands as a testimony to the popularity and success abroad. There has been a growing popularity of locavorism i.e. a movement that primarily focuses on promoting and consuming food grown and produced locally. The Athens Farmers Market sells items that are manufactured and produced within a 150-mile radius of Athens, Ohio. Kip Parker, the manager of Athens Farmers Market, said the business is finding it difficult to cater to the students of Ohio University as it sits outside the campus. The 3.5-mile distance between the main campus and the market makes it difficult for students to access it. Students also opt out of the farmers market as the produce is relatively expensive compared to Krogers and Walmart, national corporations, that are also located on East State Street. An average pound of tomatoes at the farmers market is 1.50 dollars whereas Krogers sells it for 1.05 dollars. For students living on a limited budget, Krogers seem to be the attractive
