Football is the most watched sport in America (Paulsen, 2016). Football is also a very dangerous sport and a large number of injuries occur in the National Football League each year. Will Shields, a former National Football League player once said, “Football is a violent game. We are violent men” (“Will Shields Quotes”, n.d.). More than two hundred concussions alone occurred in the National Football League last year (Mukherjee, 2017).
Fundraising events such as charity football matches and marathons were organized, with the proceeds going towards supporting soldiers and their families. These events were often well-attended and generated significant amounts of money for the war effort. While sports provided a welcome distraction from the horrors of war, they were not immune to the conflict. Many athletes and sports figures were drafted into military service, with some losing their lives on the battlefield.
Soldiers should make the pay an athlete gets because soldiers put life on the line every second of the day. Everybody loves to watch sports but athletes are only there to entertain us. Eventually, folks have problems with thinking and memory, and may ultimately develop dementia. ” We do not want young kids to start feeling dispirited (depressed) and start having suicidal thoughts just because of a playing football for a while.
