Why it was Beneficial to Drop the Atomic Bomb The Atomic Bomb, also known as the Nuclear Bomb, is one of the deadliest war tactics ever witnessed. It was dropped by the United States; once on Hiroshima, and a second time on Nagasaki on August 6, 1945. Their reason for dropping the bombs was revenge for the Pearl Harbor devastation, which killed thousands of civilians. They also wanted to keep the Soviets from gaining Japanese land so that they could expand their own territory. Not only that, but they also wanted Japan to surrender unconditionally since they were not willing to surrender, especially because they followed the bushido code. With the bombing, America felt it was necessary to keep the Soviets from developing their own claim to the Japanese land. This was due to the fact that during the war with Europe, the Soviets captured many of its territories, which they believed might happen this time with the Japanese land- because they did so, America was expecting them to do the same with Japanese regions.
