The Atomic Bomb on Japan: The Effects Following After the dropping of two atomic bombs named “Little Boy” and “Fat Man” on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945, the United States and other countries have begun to wonder if this was the right decision to end World War II. The decision to drop the atomic bombs was first made any time after August 3, 1945, or the day Japanese leaders flatly rejected the Potsdam Declaration (Truman Library).
