As Veronica Roth said “There are so many ways to be brave in this world. Sometimes bravery involves laying down your life for something bigger than yourself, or for someone else. Sometimes it involves giving up everything you have ever known, or everyone you have ever loved, for the sake of something greater". Throughout the classic novel of Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird, many protagonist demonstrate unique traits that identify them. Atticus Finch, the father of Scout and Jem, and a well respected lawyer in Maycomb County, proves many righteous traits along the story. By standing up against the belief of most people in his town, trying to save Tom Robinson from a crime he did not commit even though it was impossible, and teaching his own kids the right path to take along the way all this things were happening, makes Atticus the most courageous character in the whole story. …show more content…

One of the most courageous acts that he does is defending Tom Robinson, an innocent black men that was accused of raping a white women. "Tom did not rape Mayella. All he did was try to get away when she kissed him. Don’t let your prejudices get the better of you and make you think he’s guilty just because he’s black" (Lee, 70). Even though the people in town believe Tom made the crime, Atticus's opinion is not led by racism and prejudice. He supports his opinion and tries to show other people even though this act could result in dangerous consequences. Atticus proves courage behaviors by standing up for
