“The hardest part about growing up is letting go of what you were used to, and moving on with something you are not” in the book To Kill A Mockingbird this quote explains the two characters that have grown the most in this book.Jem and Scout both obviously grew the most in this book. However, between the two it's a pretty even but it's easy to choose between the two.The obvious answer is Jeremy “Jem” Atticus Finch. First of all, a very impactful moment in Jem’s life that changed him is when he was forced to read to Dubose. He did not realize what he was actually doing to help her.When Dubose died Atticus actually began to explain to Jem what he was actually doing he says "She said she was going to leave this world beholden to nothing and nobody. For example, earlier in the book Atticus tells Scout that to understand someone completely is that you need to walk in their shoes. At first she does not understand this until the very end of the book when she walks Arthur “Boo” Radly home from her house. When she stands on the porch she finally sees what Boo sees and finally understands what Boo sees. When scout was on the porch of the Radly’s she remembers "One time Atticus said you never really knew a man until you stood in his shoes and walked around in them" (374, Lee).At this exact time Scout finally realized what Atticus told her she finally understands what Boo Sees when he is just looking out the window. She finally realizes what he must have seen and why he wanted to befriend her and jem. Also why Boo never wants to leave she finally understands everything about boo and what he does.
