Life Lessons "Before I can live with other folks, I've got to live with myself. The one thing that doesn't abide by majority rule is a person's conscience" (Lee). Atticus Finch says this in To Kill A Mockingbird. I agree with this quote because of personal experiences I had along with other people’s experiences that have been shared with me. When Atticus Finch says, “Before I can live with other folks, I’ve got to live with myself,” it reminds me of a time when I was younger. I knew someone who was once a young mischievous child who every once in awhile tried to get in as much trouble as he could. He always felt guilty for doing something bad. Then his sister would do something to get herself into trouble and the boy would always laugh and criticize her. She would tell him that he’s not any better because of the mistakes he had made. Ultimately you make your own decisions. Though others may persuade you to do things and believe a certain way, the final decision is your own. Once I was trying to decide whether I should wear a pair of blue shoes or black shoes. Everyone had told me to wear the blue pair but I just didn’t think it went well with my outfit. I chose the black pair because it was what I thought would work best, not what the majority had said.
