Atticus! Atticus! I was hiding in a wooden closet because I was getting abused by my owners, Julian my owner came close to me and the wood creaked, I thought he heard me so I stopped breathing. He didn’t notice and passed by and didn’t return, I was scared to death and didn’t know what to do so I stayed in there until dusk usually the time my owners went to sleep I was really wearied so I tried to sleep or at least rest. I wake up waited a couple minutes and run out the closet so if they are awake they won’t see me, I’m trying to be careful but Aquilla hears ruffling and puts down her book Aquilla usually reads books after coming back from her work and stands up slowly and looks around and sees me She yells “Atticus! Than Aquilla shakes her head and tells me to go to her bed and get some sleep. The next sunrise I hear shouting and Aquilla and Julian where fighting over me, she runs out the door and crying and cussing and Julian sets out to find me so I close my eyes and pretended to sleep, he wakes me up and whips me on my back so many times and my bruises start bleeding. I can feel the blood collect and fall down my spine; I sit there crying in agony and Julian walks away and after an hour or two goes to sleep. When I finally build the strength to stand up I check where Julian is, and he is sleeping. And I try to find Aquilla but she’s not here so I try finding food. I got to the food closet and find a loaf of bread; I take a piece and sit down. While eating the bread I think to my self it is so cruel what I did to her, I ruined her relationship. I’m done with this I've had enough! I think of what I can do, I take escaping out my mind because it is an unforgiveable crime and if I where caught I would be executed. But on the other hand I would be out of here forever and my kids could live freely. I think about it for a while and want to do it; I have got nothing to live for. I think and use the ideas on how to escape I don’t know if I should do them. I finally figured it out, I’m going to pack supplies and run away. I got right to it, I grabbed a woven sac and threw some clothes, food, and shelter supplies. I was gathering more supplies and I heard someone walking up to our door. I thought it was Aquilla so I hid everything and started sweeping but it turned out to be the tax collector, so I told him to come back later because my owner was sleeping. I grabbed the sac and ran out before Julian woke up, I started to run to to park where my friends usually are before lunch, but they where out there all the time because they were freeborn and not slaves like me. I saw them and ran to them and told them I was running away from town they saw my big sac
